Sustainability Meets Excellence: Inside the Legacy of Domaine Bousquet Wines

Domaine Bousquet (pronounced Boo-skay), nestled in the high-altitude region of Tupungato in Argentina’s Uco Valley, is a family-owned winery that blends rich tradition with a forward-looking approach to winemaking. Established in 1997 by Jean Bousquet, a fourth-generation winemaker from France’s Languedoc region, the winery was born from Jean’s vision of combining Old World craftsmanship with the exceptional potential of Argentina’s high-elevation vineyards. At an impressive 4,000 feet above sea level, their 667 acres of vineyards benefit from cooler temperatures, allowing grapes to ripen slowly, preserving their acidity, and producing wines with vibrant, concentrated flavors and aromas.

Anne Bousquet, Jean’s daughter, and her husband, Labid Ameri, have not only preserved but also expanded the legacy of Domaine Bousquet. Since taking the helm, they have played a pivotal role in elevating the winery to global prominence as a leader in sustainable and organic winemaking. Their dedication to environmental stewardship is evident in every aspect of the winery’s operations. For more than 25 years, Domaine Bousquet has embraced organic viticulture, continuously refining their methods with cutting-edge sustainability practices that set new benchmarks for the industry.

Under their leadership, Domaine Bousquet became the first Argentine winery to earn the prestigious Regenerative Organic Certification (ROC), a designation that goes beyond organic farming to encompass three key pillars:
Soil health and land management
Animal welfare
Equity between farmers and workers

In addition to their commitment to regenerative organic practices, Anne and Labid have also secured B Corp status for Domaine Bousquet, underscoring their dedication to the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. This certification aligns with their broader vision of creating wines that are not only of the highest quality but also produced in a way that benefits the environment, the community, and future generations.

I had the pleasure of sampling a wide variety of Domaine Bousquet wines for this post, and I can attest to the remarkable quality and commitment to sustainability that shines through in each bottle.
