100% Malbec |14.9%|SRP – $25 (90pts)

My first time with drinking Bodega Colomé, and this is an enticing Malbec that shows it’s mountain fruit pedigree – it’s concentrated and complex with generous fruit beautifully moderated by mouth-watering acidity.

Pair with: Try with  Seared Lamb with Fresh Corn and Quinoa Soup, Buffalo burgers, dark meat poultry, roasted pork, and leaner cuts of red meat (think sirloin, flap, hanger, filet, and skirt steak).

About Bodega Colomé

Bodega Colomé, established in 1831, is the oldest operating winery in Argentina. It is located in the upper Calchaquí Valley in the Salta region of northwestern Argentina.    Their four sustainably farmed estate vineyards sit at elevations ranging from 5,740 feet to 10,207 feet above sea level.  The vineyard, planted on the original rootstock imported from Bordeaux, are the highest in Argentina and the world.

Colomé joined the Hess Family Wine Estates in 2001.  Donald Hess has brought renewed energy and a true sense of purpose by developing not only the winery, but also resources for the surrounding community.

Thank you for the kind words Nancy! I am also intrigued by high elevation wines.

  2. This was a very nice Malbec – lots of acidity to balance the rich fruit. So easy to enjoy!
