About Scheid Vineyards

Al Scheid first purchased property in Monterey County in 1972, a 10-acre parcel located on the edge of the town of Greenfield.  At the time, Monterey wine grape growing was in its infancy and Al was drawn to the region for its untapped potential.

Today the Scheid family owns 11 sustainably farmed, estate vineyards totaling 4,000 acres strategically scattered along a 70-mile stretch of the Salinas Valley. The diversity of climates, soils and growing conditions allows the family to grow 39 individual grape varieties ranging from the comfortably familiar to the wonderfully rare and exotic. All Scheid Vineyards wines are handmade in small quantities.
