About Ferraton Père & Fils

Ferraton Père & Fils was founded in 1946 by Jean Orëns Ferraton, starting with his purchase of three-quarters of an acre in Hermitage. Some of those vines are still producing fruit! The entrepreneurial gene passed to his son Michel, who in the tough economic times of the 1960s, with vineyards being abandoned, bought additional land in Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage, and later in Saint-Joseph in the 1970s. One of the early pioneers to make and sell estate wines, Ferraton built its reputation as a quality house. Today, Ferraton is headed by oenologist Damien Brisset, supported by a young, dynamic team with an average age in the mid-thirties.

Thanks to Ferraton’s sustained success, Brisset was able to initiate an ambitious overhaul in 2013 of its winemaking facilities in Tain-L’Hermitage, including an investment in the latest and best in winemaking tools and equipment. As a result Ferraton now enjoys technical advantages and resources that few other local wine producers of similar size can rival.
